Another designing approach...🖌

I had a thought whilst making a page in my sketchbook. I had some scraps and decided to arrange them into a 'collage', and then lay some of my patterns on top using acetate. This was the original collage:

I then wanted to change the colours, to make the background relating to the 'traffic light' phrase.

After making the background, I then tried my first design with acetate. I originally used a thinner black fine liner but this wouldn't show up on the plastic so I opted for a sharpie - this was the only pen which would draw.

The black pen was way too think and I think ended up being too overpowering and took a lot of the attention off the actual design and paint.

As much as I think they look interesting and incorporate a lot of ideas and intentions, I personally feel they don't look as 'successful' as my original designs. I think I like these too much to want to develop and move them on to anything else - I feel I have come to an 'end point' with the actual designs, a point where they all have their own story, their own meaning, and they all pose questions and conversation, which was my intention.
