OCD Photography📸

After a chat I had with my tutor, I had an idea. I want to kind of show 'my' OCD, and use my experiences to drive this project. Something I am also very fond of doing is photography.

I took my mum's camera and just walked around my house, thinking of routines I personally do and photographed them. Afterwards, I started to play around with editing and altering them.

Here are some of the final outcomes, from the actual photographs.

I absolutely love the end result of these two sets.

There is lots of things I feel I 'need to do' due to my OCD and thoughts. These two are two of many.

I have a routine where I check all the rooms, everything is in place, turned off, and if no-one is in the room, to shut the door. Doing this makes me feel, I'd say 'complete' and 'fulfilled' - I can then get on with what I am doing knowing around me is tidy and organised.

Another thing I 'do' is make sure my hands are 'clean' all the time.  I cannot stand them being 'dirty'. I get really flustered if they aren't so my instinct is to go and wash them.

I then thought - 'What have I previously done which I enjoyed?'

Suspending things/hanging them.

'Could I do this with my images? To kind of show the routine? Having them in stages, etc?'

Getting a pole I had found, using a needle and thread, I did this. These were some of the results.

None of these really have a background, this was more of an experiment to see if I liked this idea of presenting images. I love the photos I ended up with but getting them was difficult. To have the images round the correct way all at one time was challenging, but with patience, I got some shots I like!

I think they really show that sense of order, and having that within my surroundings helps me personally cope and get through things. Another thing I like from this process, is this last photo. The shadows from the light are really interesting. I think I want to take a look at this shape and see what I can do.
