Interviews & Research🎤🗒

Primary Research

So as this project is based around my OCD, and what I have experienced, I wanted to make sure I don't use this in a negative way - bias. Interviewing people is something I really wanted to do. Getting others thoughts and experiences to help shape this into something accurate and positive. I want to cover all aspects: myself, others who suffer from it, charities, and people who don't necessarily suffer from it.

Starting off, I created a list of questions I wanted to ask people who had suffered with it/people who still do.

I then sent these off to a few people who answered them. I was extremely grateful for anyone who took part in answering as this is a very sensitive topic to people who have experienced OCD, or who still do - I know myself. Talking can sometimes be tiresome and draining, but it can be comforting and a positive thing, which is what I want too do!

Some pages in my sketchbook, relating to my interviews:

I actually answered the questions myself, and another person kindly participated.

As well as interviewing people who suffer with OCD, I wanted to make sure I have a better perspective and knowledge on people who don't suffer with it, and how they view the disorder. I complied a list of different questions and asked these to a variety of people, all different ages and genders.

I found this very interesting because when I started this project, looking at how others perceive it wasn't something I was going to focus on.

Secondary Research

Making sure I actually understand all aspects of the disorder is another important thing. After I did the workshop with 'OCD UK', I found there website enlightening; when reading through it I related to so much!

'OCD UK' Website: https://www.ocduk.org/

I also took a look at 'Mind' - a charity which highlights all mental health disorders. The website is full of very detailed information, easy for anyone to understand. I went to the OCD page and took notes of anything I felt was relevant, to me, to what I am wanting to cover.
