What are you like?💭
For Week 1 of Illustration and Digital, we had the question 'What are you like?' to explore.
After the paint I added pen to highlight the lines. I didn't erase the pencil lines either as I felt it added to the rough, 'spontaneous' atmosphere this game would have had. Aswell as the pen, I added notes, photos and made the page a place I could express part of my personality - the main aim of the game.
'What are you like?' was a Victorian parlour game people would play, drawing answers to questions to get to know eachother. We used these prompts to create a series of drawings.
I started off rough sketching the first things which came to my mind from these prompts. Hadn't done drawing properly in a long time so happy with how these turned out.
I then added some colour - water colour was my choice of paint, as I wanted a light wash of colour over each drawing.

We then took these to Illustrator. I hadn't used this software before so it was a challenge but I was excited to try. I still think I need to practice a lot more but the basics, I got the hang of.
I went for quite a basic, minimalistic approach towards the drawings as I felt that looked more visually appealing to me. From these, I did lots of experiments with paint, pen, printing on prints, more alterations on Illustrator, etc. I like them all, but my favourites have to be the watercolour wash on top. I think it highlights those black lines, those shapes I have created; with the sunset colour scheme, it had such a warm and positive atmosphere to it which is how I feel about our wood so it conveys that emotion perfectly.
