Creative Exhibition🖌

Came across an exhibition in my local city today; it was full of creative individuals who showcased their work. I really enjoyed looking around and reading about who they were, what they have made, etc.

The main body of work which had been presented was in honour of the 'Black Lives Matter' movement. Lots of artists had took their own take on this and made some amazing pieces.

I love to see how each individual had turned different people, words, phrases, into art. Some had used paint, some photos, some had hand-drawn. This exhibition to me shows how this movement had opened up this discussion we all needed to have, and art was a way of doing this. My two favourites were the ones which I took larger images of; they stood out to me the most. The colours on their first piece are so bright, it makes the portrait and the 'I can't breathe' centre stage, opening that discussion, making people ask those questions. The second, again, the colours, the white and black contrasting against eachother, are really important. That white outline as well, it does a similar thing to the previous piece, makes you're eye drawn to that portrait.

I also found some boxes, full of cards, handmade, as well as vintage ones. I have always really enjoyed making cards, been doing it since I was a child. I really like the more simplistic cards or the 'old fashioned' ones, which is why I think I was drawn to these. I love the old prints, and looking at how they have evolved overtime. I actually did an essay on how advertising has changed over the years, not completely linked to cards, but seeing how creative individuals and their approaches have changed is something I really enjoy looking into!

Here is a card I made a few weeks ago, like I mentioned, I find more minimalistic cards visually appealing.

Since starting my foundation, I have found myself being more aware of these places and opportunities around me. Before, I would have walked past this exhibition and not experienced these people's work ,however now, my eyes are starting to open and I am slowly finding my love for exploring and finding these amazing little nooks and crannies!
