Artist Research🗒

Throughout my sketchbook, I've looked at quite a few artists which I either enjoy or really convey the principles and elements I was looking at.

Michael Loew was an artist I found whilst looking at how you can incorporate geometric shapes in artwork, however I think his colour aspect was more of a inspiration to me. I love how severe his experimentation was and it really made me question why I'm using certain colours, etc. I made a few responses to him below:

David Adjaye was another artist/architect I found which I enjoyed. 'Free' is the first word which came to mind. His sketching so light and delicate, just moving with the lines, creating such interesting pieces. I never work in this way so it was really fun to try. I feel I couldn't quite express my personal in this way, as I'm more of an organised person, and this approach is the opposite, therefore I wouldn't take these any further, but definitely loved the experience.

Mary McCartney's work is another technique which looked really like something I would do. She took her photos and used Polaroid shapes to show her personality. I take photographs wherever I go, all the time, snapping constantly at anything I visually enjoy. Seeing her version of the 'What are you like?' game gave me an idea to recreate it myself, using my photos and my prompts. I love how these turned out and if I was going to expand on this idea, I'd do it on a bigger scale and take a set of photos instead of using ones I have previously taken.
